Born Johnny Allen Hendrix he legally changed his name to James Marshall Hendrix on September 11, 1946. Widely recognized as one of the most creative guitar players of all time Hendrix pioneered the explosive popularity of the electric guitar. Hendrix's innovative style of combining fuzz, feedback and controlled distortion created a new musical form. Because he was unable to read or write music, it is nothing short of remarkable that Jimi Hendrix's meteoric rise in the music world took place in just four short years. His unique musical language continues to influence a whole host of modern musicians.

The music of Jimi Hendrix embraced the influences of blues, ballads, rock, R&B, and jazz a collection of styles that continue to make Hendrix one of the most popular figures in the history of rock music.

Stevie Ray Vaughan(10/09/54-08/27/90)
Born in Oak Cliff, Texas Vaughan started playing the guitar at age seven. At the end of his Junior year of high school he dropped out to move to Austin, Texas and pursue a career in music. "Triple Threat" was Stevie's final band that he formed in 1977. In 1978 the name changed to "Double Trouble" The band consisted of Tommy Shannon, bass player, Chris Liyton, drummer, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, vocal and guitar player.

Though Stevie's musical style was blues, he could play anything. Stevie brought the raw power of the blues to a new generation of listeners, while paying homage to the great players who influenced him. In an all-too-short career, he had proven to many that he was one of the greatest electric guitarist of all time.
